Montana, "Tana," for short, is a seven year-old BLM mustang gelding. He is big-boned and solid, with feathers from his hocks down to his heels. He was wild and had little contact with humans before we rescued him. He has let us know quickly that he is a very intelligent and honest horse, and he as made great progress.

Montana has taught us to love mustangs. "What a horse!" is a regular comment around here when talking about Montana. "God he's beautiful!" comes to mind too. His photos do not do him justice. When it's his time to go to his "forever" home, there won't be a dry eye around this place. He's taught us a lot about what it takes to bring a mustang under saddle. The results are one fine-looking horse, and an appreciation for the mustang breed, and a fondness for Montana. This horse is smart, intuitive, aloof, sincere, honest, and friendly.

Adoption fee: Montana is not available. He was "adopted" via donation by Jim Dawson, on May 5th, 2010.

Now for the rest of the story....

I then donated him back to 2nd Chance and he will serve as our "Mustang Mascot."

But that's not all....

2nd Chance subsequently sold minor interest in Montana to Soso Whaley of New Hampshire. Montana will be shipped to Soso where he will stay with her for an undetermined period. She will see that he is trained naturally, using Frank Bell's methods, and Soso will continue Montana's training as 2nd Chance and our new partner embark on an exciting new career for Montana.

Stay tuned, we will bring you periodic updates.

Note: We are willing to work with anyone who wishes to adopt a horse. Sponsorships can be considered monthly payments on adoption fees.

If you wish to help us save horses and be a part of our cause, you may...

...or you can come pick out a horse and take it home, or, if you love horses and want to have one, but have no place to keep one, you may sponsor one.  We have nine equine, four of which are prospects for adoption (placement).

...and remember, it's all about the horses.
